Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) is a public research university located in Kaunas, Lithuania. Initially established on January 27, 1920, the school was known as "Higher Courses". With an increased rate of staffing and attendance, the school was instituted as the first independent higher education institution within Lithuania by the government on February 16, 1922.  Independence from the Soviet Union brought rapid westernization with a flexible module/credit system and membership to many Western European organizations. Since the establishment in 1922, the University has produced more than 125 000 graduates. Following Lithuanian independence, KTU has issued over 1000 doctoral, and 62,000 bachelor's and master's degrees. With a current academic staff of almost 3000 employees and nearly 17,000 students, KTU stands as the largest technical university in the Baltic States.

The General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania

 

Aim of the Academy – to train commanders-leaders for the Lithuanian Armed Forces by cherishing their traditions, providing high-quality university education, military education and performing scientific researches. The General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania has a few clubs uniting the community and representatives of other institutions as well as representing the Academy to the society. Public relations is one of the key areas of the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania and the whole National Defence System. The Military Academy of Lithuania cooperates actively with public institutions and non-governmental organizations and cultivates relations with foreign military training establishments, thus contributing to education of national identity and civic education. University studies are sequential studies enabling a person to acquire higher education and qualification. The General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania carries out studies of three levels: undergraduate (Bachelor’s degree studies), postgraduate (Master’s degree studies) and graduate (Doctoral studies). Cadets and course participants study according to the study programmes prepared and approved by the departments of the Military Academy of Lithuania and registered at the Register of Academic Studies, Study Programmes and Qualifications.

    Tallinn University of Technology (TUT), the only technological university in Estonia, is the flagship of Estonian engineering and technology education.
