Coordinators: Jörgen Sparf and Evangelia Petridou, MIUN, Sweden

The course aims at providing students with an overview of social theories of risk. Different perspectives and theoretical approaches are juxtaposed and analyzed against the background of the historical evolutions of thinking about risk.

The course fleshes out the core topics of risk governance. The focus is on the integration of perspectives of various stakeholders in the interdisciplinary trajectories of risk management, risk participation and disaster management.

The course unpacks the policy making process at a theoretical level. It exemplifies abstract concepts by applying them in the risk and security policy sector. The special focus of this course is to conceptualize risk and security as policy problems.
